Day 3

Saturday – February 7 – Milano

The Winter Olympics 2026 – Milan and Cortina, Italy

It was a very short night! We could have slept in, however, we had agreed to meet for breakfast at 9:30. I actually felt pretty good after showering and getting moving.

Our tickets today were not until evening. Derrick went online and found eight tickets for resale to the afternoon women’s ice hockey match between the United States and Finland – away we go! This time the Duncan/Henning family was seated behind one of the goals.

The people watching are almost as much fun as the events. From little girls (there are lots of children in attendance) to big girls and hairy men. Then there is the Finland fan with the humongous boobs. The music is great – the crowd is totally into it – and the American women killed them. They are so very, very good at passing the puck and slamming the opponent into the wall, then scoring! We all are loving every moment. It is always more fun to win. We left before it was over with the U.S. ahead 4-0.

I take time to shop at each venue, always finding stuff I don’t need, but can’t wait to wear, so all the folks at home know I attended the Olympics.

We move again to the next venue for team sports: men’s short freestyle followed by ice dancing. Most drives are 30 minutes or longer followed by a 15-minute walk. Again, our driver is an expert at getting as close as possible.

Mae is all excited to see the U.S. star IIia Malinin. He is the only skater who can do a backflip on ice. We were not disappointed. Each competitor gets an individual score and a team score. Of the nine teams competing, four were eliminated, with the United States again at the top.

It is an hour’s wait for the ice dancing competition to begin, and it was so worth the wait. In this event, couples each dressed especially for this competition. I take several videos; however, one has to be there to get the full effect. This was my favorite event so far, so elegant!

Back to the hotel earlier tonight; it’s not quite midnight. The bar is packed with young people, both inside and out. They make a wonderful DuncanTini – well, actually two.

Another fabulous day!!!
